Arranging Black Marriages: Rebuilding a System that Guarantees Marriage Success Using a Council of Elders and Conscious Conservative Leadership
Every successful venture has a system that allows it to function smoothly so the people involved in the organization or structure achieve optimal success.
We see this in every industry. If an entrepreneur wants to create a thriving online business, she learns about the system and implements every detail so her venture thrives.
We see this same strategy used in education, ministry, finance, and more.
Systems work when we learn how to work systems properly.
But, for some reason, when it comes to marriage, we do not view this institution as a system or a venture that requires structure and order to maintain stability and to achieve the greatest outcomes. We treat marriage simply as an “emotional contract” between two people — and often two different families — rather than constructing a spiritual, emotional, and practical system that guarantees success.
I first became aware of this void in 2021. As I scoured “grassroots” media (social media) to learn what was happening in Black Culture, I realized that while we are seeing movements towards increasing the number of Black marriages, we are not witnessing discussions about HOW to make these marriages a success long-term.
For the most part, unmarried people will ask married couples how they managed to maintain their relationships. Some couples will highlight surface-level strategies like having good communication skills, loving your partner unconditionally, practicing forgiveness, and the like.
But the conversations still lack practical advice that GUARANTEE success for Black marriages.
And so, I began sowing new marriage thought into the atmosphere by contending for a return to ancient principles that worked: arranging Black marriages.
As with all my initial ideas, the public fought me on this one. In their minds, arranging marriages is not only archaic but also destructive. They see arrangements as a tool to prevent young women from choosing partners for themselves. Or they envision abusive parents handing their young girls over to grown adult men to be abused.
For them, arranging Black marriages connoted oppression. Therefore, I received more and more rejection.
But the push back only ignited my resolve to develop this concept all the more, because I knew what “arrangements” meant when I developed this approach.
Today, I want to explore my theory and eventual practice with you, Beloved, and discuss why Black Millennials are the perfect demographic for applying this principle so we see a spike in successful Black marriages moving forward.

The marital status of Black Millennials reflects significant generational and societal changes. While marriage rates remain lower than the broader U.S. population, married Black Millennials demonstrate the financial advantages of two-income households, offering greater economic stability and resilience compared to their single peers. These trends emphasize the importance of addressing systemic challenges and supporting pathways to economic and relational stability within the Black community.
If Black Millennials put into practice my theory and this Conscious Conservative Pro-Life Approach, the systems needed to build generational successful Black marriages will be locked in for the next 100+ years.

Let’s continue this discussion by properly defining what I mean by “Arranging Black Marriages.”
Arranging Black Marriages involves a systematic structure for the successful planning and development of wholesome, God-focused, vision-aligned unions in Black communities, regardless of the socio-economic status of each individual. Using a Conscious Conservative Approach, these marriages are founded on Kingdom laws and spiritual principles that guarantee success for the couple and their social empire (aka nuclear family). In addition, through the help and support of a structured, localized council of elders, these marriages will have the spiritual and practical tools for success, as long as the couples apply the insight to their lives. — Coach Felecia Killings, Author of Arranging Black Marriages: A Conscious Conservative Pro-Life Approach to Building Stronger, Healthier Marriages for This Next Generation of Black America
If you’re wondering what this system entails, here’s a general breakdown:
Arranging Black Marriages includes councils of elders within each community who will train and advise men and women on building successful social empires.
Arranging Black Marriages includes a structured courting system (6-12 months) that guides each individual through a successful vetting process with the help of each one’s council.
Arranging Black Marriages includes a marriage training program that teaches men how to be husbands and women how to be wives (5+ years); and more.
These councils of elders would include:
The individuals’ parents
The individuals’ spiritual leaders
Psychologists
Marriage coaches
Sex coaches
Parenting coaches
Business and career coaches
Educational coaches (for their school choice needs)
Financial coaches
Depending on the nature of each individual’s God-given vision, his or her Council of Elders would assist with preparations for that individual’s marriage based on the tenets of Conscious Conservatism. In addition, each Council would network with other community leaders to help match individuals who share similar visions and who are compatible with one another.
No force is involved in the process as each person is well within their rights to say no to a “match.” But the process allows each man and woman to engage in viable courtships that have already been vetted by people they trust the most.
The Council of Elders strategy is simply one pillar of arranging Black marriages using a Conscious Conservative Pro-Life Approach. The entire process is documented in my newest book, Arranging Black Marriages: A Conscious Conservative Pro-Life Approach to Building Stronger, Healthier Marriages for This Next Generation of Black America. And in 2026, I will launch the Arranging Black Marriages Network and Marriage Training Program, which will include all elements of a CCM Council of Elders who will equip our premium members for successful unions nationwide.
